Riga cup 14-15.04 and Finnspring 28-29.04

Jouni
Many waiting for Martin's positive emotions after the Riga cup tournament. Yes, I feel like a winner :) despite the fact that I lost to Dmitry in two days. High level of organizational competition many athletes led the internal contraction more than other races. Yes, all are strong, but the results I am not surprised. With great gap of me remained 3.rd. - 6.th places, it made a little pause, and almost 7min in two-day summary, however, it is quite much. What is the indicator to be able to achieve high results (not necessarily win) - speed, technique, psychological factor? I think that it depends on many things, but each has the same look at themselves and realize their potential and their own place. All may not be the first or last. All the great satisfaction lies in their own capacities and the performance. I guess many of the race draws your way through the forest on map, it is a good and necessary thing, it's best if you are near someone who helps to analyze the technical aspects of distance. It seems to me that this sport is hard to have perfect race and in finish you can not tell that you are the best, even if you know the other competitors are still running. Some can be better then you, maybe Thierry, or any other top-class athlete. The question arises as to why other athletes are stronger than me? They just know a little more about you, what is required directly to each of them to focus and realize own level. It is because we continue to train and raise up! ;)

After the tournament the first day of the view that gross errors did, however, took a few steps, others were faster, so has the same lack of understanding as to why? Maybe I was too slow when running directly on the road, or height did not move so quickly through overgrown forests. These are just some steps to show that I could be better. Anyone looking at the split times to himself certainly thinks so to be better. I believe however that more attention should be paid to the overall performance, and then, just a few steps that are not fully understood.

The second day was a big surprise swamp, and remember that the Finns I have asked before the start that they are green crosses .. Abroad, to my knowledge, in Estonia, rarely draw tree root. I had two grave errors of 4th and 20th control. On 4th control mistake was that the roots were so many around that their speed can not be perceived at the root, so a bit of confusion, I knew that I was right here at 4th but inconclusive. To 20th control had to run twice. Was not possible to correct the technical delivery - the last attraction of the bog edge, then fold opposite the direction of the pit.. but over - in front of plain and no sign of control .. Had to run back to the swamp and throw circle again and this time control managed to find, to my surprise a little bit further than its own internal sense of distance imagined. Approximately 1 min was wrong, but the rest controls did with no mistakes and, in my opinion, technically correct "taken".

Danish spring 23-25.03.2012

First impressions are made and we tested the current speed in the world. Point out that the latvians E.Bertuks was faster then me and he ranked 4 th place, me10. place. So fast I had gone through a long distance 8km - 36:35. Common start and more than 100 athletes to the starting line. I was not born, that running is a crucial and on the map "reading" was a secondary, perhaps because of the light forest. Hillerod forests already we have been running and knew that blue lines and green signs, and kept hidden controls. It is a pity that our team of Finnish relay race didn't get  prizes.. Tomorrow the 10mila camp and we should ran a few races.
Good luck to those who will run the "Kurzemes pavasaris", Pokaiņi in the woods in Latvia! ;)
