Edgar's 5th place,
 Middle FIN champs
Finnish championship – Middle distance and Relay – one of most important events of orienteering life of Finland. Saturday 22.09, 6:20 we got up, had some breakfast and went to the race! This is important event for Finns and if a foreigner "smashes" a place in the top ten, then it is worthy! Martins: I remember myself some time ago, because once I had the opportunity to climb on the podium of the Finnish championship (best ten runners are awarded).

Jussi on the way to finish 25th place, Middle!
Martins: It was interesting that I had to start the final 2min before Edgars. The distance was mature, and that forces you to show others the performance. I can mention, that on the way to the right 1st control was ability to read the map 5m horizontal easily and did not pose particular difficulties to perceive information. But on the way before my starter control, I felt a little bit confused, I tried to compare object in the map and object in nature (the pit), where control had to be and was placed. As they say orientation film broke and could not realize, where I was. But there was no a big panic, I ran to the right, where there was a sloe and then I was back in the game, I mean on the map. But this misunderstanding costed me ~ 48sek. I was running at my own pace to the next control, of course, I wanted to make more speed, but nothing, you have to run with the one you do have. Suddenly I heard some hard gasp at control 10th, I looked back and saw Edgars. The first thought was to hold up and run physically. As you can see, he felt moving away too fast. Until the next but one control I suddenly saw Edgars, but at the last control he already disappeared at the finish line. It turns out that I was reached for 2min and he ran away from me on 35sek. Edgars got 5th place in the end . I stayed in place 22nd +4:26 behind winner. Jussi 25th +4:48 behind winner. Edgars 5th - good performance + 1:51 behind winner. Thierry was unbearable 1st place! Leonid got 2nd place and Pasi 3rd place.

Tume in FIN champs 9th
Edgars, Sami, Esa, Jussi. Edgars came first in 1st leg! Black horse knows what to do. Esa did just perfect performance in 3rd leg +1:23 seconds behind Anders Nordberg, 6th leg time!
Martins: I have to run in 2nd team. No more than one foreigner in Finnish team is prevented. So it happened that 3 of us were  running the first stage – Edgars, Gleb and me. I do not know why, but I just love relays, it is exciting for me, and I perceive it as a game! At the beginning of the distance I could anticipate that it will tallish step as running out. It was quite difficult in the middle and at the end had around 40m steep slopes were lifted - I almost walked.. In the distance I saw that M. Bostrom together with Edgars tried to run at a higher speed and run away  from others. But my motivator was, that  2/3 of distance I had ability to deliver a good result, no matter of all: the adversity and poor quality training process because of health! Looking at the other athletes, I have to admit Pasi, who has not at least one year running the world elite. It was the culmination of waiting - Pasi ran the last stage  3m45sek before Thierry. Would French athlete be able to win Pasi? That was the question of the day. But somehow I had confidence of his good performance - the first place, the second place Tue Lassen, and the third place remained in the well-known Frenchman. I also had confidence in my team!
Thank you all for the nice weekend!

All relay results.
